Water towers are an iconic part of the American landscape. In addition to the functional use of storing water and providing water pressure, water towers are often decorated in ways to provide a unique sense of place and civic identification.
These photographs were made with my friend and colleague, David Breaux, between 1999 and 2001, in Mississippi. We traveled the highways and byways of the state, making more than 2000 separate images of the water towers we found. This portfolio presents some of the more interesting and scenic water towers we found along the way.
